Brief
Get everyday athletes to download the adidas Training app by creating a sports-science backed 12-week strength training plan only available in the adidas Training App.
Strategy
Problem
The adidas Training app lacked a strength training program that leveraged commonly available equipment, which was oft requested by users.
Execution
As senior project manager, I managed the brief from intake to delivery, the creative production, and worked cross-functionally with product to prepare the app for launch.
Solution
Work with sports science teams and influencer talent to create a fun and engaging way for users to build strength in a safe and productive way.
Results
Unfortunately, it was decided that the adidas Training App should be decommissioned as we were finishing post-production of the video series.
Sports science based
Working with a brand like adidas where sport is at the center of its identity, we leveraged our sports science teams to create authentic workouts that aren’t just fun—they’re effective.
Leveraging brand talent
Having access to worldclass talent was an amazing part of this project. When people think of adidas, they think of Beyonce, Messi, Beckham. While we couldn’t access that talent, we were able to use a certified strength coach who was great on camera.
This resulted in a truly powerful fitness experience that wasn’t just visually striking—it actually helps people get healthy and strong.
Three Learnings
1
Schedule weekly meetings with product stakeholders when needing to closely work cross-functionally.
2
Acknowledge which decisions are completely above/beyond your control and move on.
3
Even if a project falls through, ensure the team’s work is adequately acknowledged and celebrated regardless.
